Art of Survival

"Jonquilles"

Original piece: Paper Cut Out and Oil Pastels.

This is a piece I contributed to "The Art of Survival" fundraiser organized by two great gentlemen I used to work with. They are raising money for their Relay for Life team, for the cancer fight. If you want to help, all the artwork they have will be auctioned off in May.You can find all the information on their website: www.artofsurvival.ca, their blog or on Facebook.

I wanted to try something a bit different, and I think it turned out not too bad. The second picture shows a bit more how the outline is superimposed on the colored background. The shadows gives it a nice effect.

Update: My piece was sold! Thanks to whoever bought it!

I haven't been doing as much traditional art as photo editing in the past while. I just have a bit of a passion for photography that I never pursued yet. I figured I'd give it a try and I enjoy it a lot, but I still have lots of work to do to be good at it. This little bundle of joy just might be my new favorite model...

That is what Three Delivery is now called on the French channel. Check it out on Saturdays at 9:30 (9:40ish sometimes) on Radio-Canada. Chop Suey Trio features Kim, Nikko and Tomi instead of the original Sue, Sid and Tobey. Anywho, all my French homies out there, this is the show I worked on. Enjoy!

Here's a commissioned painting for a wedding present, to a lady that really likes roosters. It was inspired by the work I've been doing on photos in the past little while. There's also texture on the outside frame which the scans really don't show. The text means " For each new day, a new dream".

This is the thumbnail I did in Photoshop... It's a lot harder to blur something with real paint. :)

Here's some pictures of the mural I painted at the college over many months before I graduated. I finally went back and got pics of it to put on here. It's about 6' high by 30' long, mostly acrylics. It was pretty weird to see it after 2 years. Being the artist that I am, I wanted to change the whole thing... :p

Here's the first piece I've done in a long time...
It's also the first time I use Photoshop to paint. It looks a bit different depending on the monitor, I'm not an expert with PS so I still have a lot to figure out. I think it turned out not so bad. What you think?

Wow, I haven't been on here in a while... well i just thought i'd give you a lil update.
I'm now animating hard at Fatkat Studios, still in the wonderful Miramichi! I'm learning a bunch and very slowly getting better and faster. I can't wait to be the greatest animator in town! But there are a lot of asses to kick if I want that title...
Anyway I haven't had much time to myself lately, and the bit of free time i get, I try to enjoy the summer and stay away from computers... but I hope to get back to posting soon! :P

Here's a typical "me working on a design" sketchbook page. I cheated and rearranged it a bit... I've been asked for a menacing kinda eye to paint on the back of a helmet. I like graphic style more than realistic, so that's what I was going for. I like to redraw the same thing changing just a lil thing on it so that I can see the difference easily. Sooo... yup!

The Plourdes

This is my best creation of the summer... actually, one of the rare drawings I did. Tried to get a cartoon character of my sisters and I representing our status during summer of 06.

So... on the left is the oldest, Larissa, who studied to be an animal health technician. Dunno if that's a good translation for it... Anyways, so she's now working in almost a secret lab farm in Montreal where they make bullet proof vests with goat milk. I know! Friggin cool! She takes care of the babies cause they're not allowed to drink the milk from their moms.

On the right side is little Tina, who is currently studying to be a massage therapist. I'm lucky cause she practices on me for free! Life is good... She's all cute cause she's got to wear a nurse kind of outfit... The guys here know her as "the boob masseuse", I made the mistake one day to mention that she would learn specific breast massage in her third year.

And that tall thing in the middle... that's me! Animation student in desperate need of hand drawing skills (noticed how I generally hide the hands). That was also when I had gazillion braids on my head! I miss those...

Funny fact I noticed: We have completely different fields of studies, but we all studied animal and human anatomy. Yup!

This is a layout that Rick Knowles drew and we have to paint it for our background painting class. That's the first version I painted really quickly right over the photocopy of the layout to choose my colors and light source.

I think that's where I like drawing the most... See, I hate just sittin' there listening to people talk, so I make time go faster by kinda tattooing my hand. Next step... full body! That pic was taken the first time I did it, under the influence of a certain fluid. Too much of it.
