The Sketchbook Project 2012

This is my entry for The Sketchbook Project 2012.
If you don't know what the project is all about, please check it out at www.arthousecoop.com/projects/sketchbookproject2012.

As a first time participant, I tried a few different things and I enjoyed the overall experience. I would definitely do more books in the future. Feel free to comment!

Art of Survival

"Jonquilles"

Original piece: Paper Cut Out and Oil Pastels.

Size : 8" x 10". Frame 14" x 17"

This is a piece I contributed to "The Art of Survival" fundraiser organized by two great gentlemen I used to work with. They are raising money for their Relay for Life team, for the cancer fight. If you want to help, all the artwork they have will be auctioned off in May.You can find all the information on their website: www.artofsurvival.ca, their blog or on Facebook.

I wanted to try something  a bit different, and I think it turned out not too bad. The second picture shows a bit more how the outline is superimposed on the colored background. The shadows gives it a nice effect.

Update: My piece was sold! Thanks to whoever bought it!

Marc

This is a collaboration between Devin and I. He drew it, I colored.

Pencil crayons are still the best.

Tina

5" x 7", Acrylics on canvas

A small painting for practice, without a sketch.

Monster fur

Ely

World, meet Ely, my nephew.

I haven't been doing as much traditional art as photo editing in the past while. I just have a bit of a passion for photography that I never pursued yet. I figured I'd give it a try and I enjoy it a lot, but I still have lots of work to do to be good at it. This little bundle of joy just might be my new favorite model...

Go Sens Go!

8" x 10", Acrylics on canvas

This is another comissioned painting I did just before Christmas. Devin Taylor sketched it for me. I only have a picture because my scanner was packed away at the time... We moved to Ottawa! I still have a few paintings on the go, so once I'm all settled, I'll post more.

Baby elephant

12" x 12", Acrylics on canvas

This is a comissioned painting I did a while ago. It's a birthday present for my aunt, so I had to wait till today to post it in order to not ruin the surprise. I hope she likes it. Bonne fête matante!

Chop Suey Trio

That is what Three Delivery is now called on the French channel. Check it out on Saturdays at 9:30 (9:40ish sometimes) on Radio-Canada. Chop Suey Trio features Kim, Nikko and Tomi instead of the original Sue, Sid and Tobey. Anywho, all my French homies out there, this is the show I worked on. Enjoy!

More walls!

Two murals I painted at my cousin's house in Dieppe for his girls (with help from another chick). It's mostly acrylics. If anyone wants murals done, don't hesitate to contact me!

Sell Sheet

Digging through old portfolio stuff. Found this.

Rooster

11" x 14", Acrylics on canvas

Here's a commissioned painting for a wedding present, to a lady that really likes roosters. It was inspired by the work I've been doing on photos in the past little while. There's also texture on the outside frame which the scans really don't show. The text means " For each new day, a new dream".

This is the thumbnail I did in Photoshop... It's a lot harder to blur something with real paint. :)

Bébittes

I'm digging through old files. Thought this one should be on here.

Here's the whole NBCC mural put together.

The original sketch for this thing was the very

first post on my blog...

Mural!

Here's some pictures of the mural I painted at the college over many months before I graduated. I finally went back and got pics of it to put on here. It's about 6' high by 30' long, mostly acrylics. It was pretty weird to see it after 2 years. Being the artist that I am, I wanted to change the whole thing... :p

♫ Threeeee Deeeliiiivery! ♪

Three delivery is the show I have been working on for many months now at Fatkat.
It premiered last night on Nicktoons Network, but we'll only see it in Canada in January.

In the meantime, check out the website!

Darcy

Here's the first piece I've done in a long time...
It's also the first time I use Photoshop to paint. It looks a bit different depending on the monitor, I'm not an expert with PS so I still have a lot to figure out. I think it turned out not so bad. What you think?

Argh!

Wow, I haven't been on here in a while... well i just thought i'd give you a lil update.
I'm now animating hard at Fatkat Studios, still in the wonderful Miramichi! I'm learning a bunch and very slowly getting better and faster. I can't wait to be the greatest animator in town! But there are a lot of asses to kick if I want that title...
Anyway I haven't had much time to myself lately, and the bit of free time i get, I try to enjoy the summer and stay away from computers... but I hope to get back to posting soon! :P

My website is finally up!

Alright! I just finished the first version of my online portfolio. This is just the one I did in school and only in a short period of time that is, and it's mostly school stuff. You can expect a more kick ass web page later in life, like... when I get time to live again, after months of working at my new job! Which I can't wait to start! So have a look! The link is at the bottom of the list there... but here's the address...

www.animationnb.com/07/cplourde

Check it out and gimme all the feedback you want, I'd love it!

More lemurs!

Meet Bob and MJ... Those are the 2 characters for that Flash short I keep talking about. Finally got good frames to show you the designs. Hopefully at one point I'll be ready to post the whole short on here...

Cute lil blue thingy...

Another project I did in fundies and I still like. TP's fun...

Creepy...

Well, it's time to put together a portfolio and it's kind of crazy the time I spend in front of a computer, without any time to post stuff on here! So here's the first one in over a month, one of the drawings I made a while ago... My favorite part is the face in the drift wood...

More life drawing

These are two drawings I liked from the hundreds I made this year. I had a rough version and I completed them from memory. I think it turned out not too bad! Any suggestions?

Blue stuff

Another old layout... treasure room with pirate chicks...

Disco and Laundry?

Those are pieces from my disco laundromat pan layout I had to do for school a while ago.

Cute thing...

Here's my chameleon character for a Flash short I'm working on. I was just playing a bit with my rough drawing in Flash and I thought it looked kinda cool. Scary...

Watchin' ya...

Here's a typical "me working on a design" sketchbook page. I cheated and rearranged it a bit... I've been asked for a menacing kinda eye to paint on the back of a helmet. I like graphic style more than realistic, so that's what I was going for. I like to redraw the same thing changing just a lil thing on it so that I can see the difference easily. Sooo... yup!
